Since the inception of PolkaDAO we’ve seen an incredible amount of support from teams and individuals signaling their support. Today we’re excited to announce that PolkaDAO is officially live!

Proposals

Now is the time to make a proposal! If you’re looking for a team, have already built a team or just have a cool idea, the Polkadot community is ready to hear it! If you’ve been hanging out in our Discord channel you might have seen this document outlining a good format to make a proposal.

Over 5 teams and 10 individuals have already signaled their support for creating a proposal. From creatives looking to fund their artistic project for polkadot to developer-focused teams intending to build on Substrate; there’s a whole lot for anyone to experiment with.

Join the experiment

Anyone who holds DOT tokens from the prior token sale will be given a proportional amount of reputation to vote on proposals within the PolkaDAO. This reputation is initially given 80% for DOT holders and 20% for individuals and teams who have contributed to the initial rollout of PolkaDAO in some fashion, community building or otherwise.

Note: You will need to redeem your reputation to a separate ethereum address from your DOT placeholder account by following these instructions. You must follow these instructions to redeem your reputation to an account you own DOTs on, even if you decide to use the same ethereum address for reputation.

  • DAO Resources: For further reading on how reputation works check out this informative forum post from the DAOstack team.
  • Tutorials for using the DAOstack platform can be found here.
  • A very informative walkthrough for the platform entitled “The TAO of the DAO” should also be reviewed before making a proposal and contributing for good measure.

Reputation will be rewarded to those proposals who pass and individuals who would like to participate can also request for reputation to be given to them on a case-by-case basis, the higher your participation the more chance you have of getting some reputation voted in by the DAO. So join the conversation today and let’s get this DAO shakin’!

Elastic Scaling: Streamlining Growth on Polkadot

Elastic scaling is an extremely useful addition for parachains that need higher throughput than allowed by the current Polkadot protocol. This blog from Fatemeh Shirazi explains its importance and how this technical upgrade will come about. Polkadot’s mission is based on delivering a platform that focuses on excellent scaling and security. The aim is to allow decentralized applications to operate in the best conditions possible. Polkadot scales by applying hierarchy to the platform architectur

JAM Session: Gavin Wood Reveals Bold Vision for Polkadot's Next Revolution

Yesterday at Token 2049 Dubai, Gavin Wood announced a bold vision for the next generation of Polkadot technology. In line with the other groundbreaking firsts that Polkadot has brought to the market, this new vision is set to revolutionize the future of Web3. It will provide the speed, scale, full decentralization, and ease of use needed to drive forward deep innovation across not just Web3, but the entire tech landscape. At the heart of this vision is JAM, a new version of the Polkadot chain t

The landscape of trustless bridges on Polkadot

With research and writing from Oliver Brett, Adrian Catangiu, and Aidan Musnitzky, this article explores the rich environment of bridge building, both within Polkadot and to external ecosystems. Any Web3 protocol with true aspirations of interoperability needs to consider the development and deployment of bridges to external networks, and in this sense Polkadot is no different. Blockchain bridges are, in essence, mechanisms for two sovereign chains with different technological foundations to o
